LMS Reporting (Navigate 3.1.4)

As we've discussed, the streamlining of lesson plans and assignments in a virtual classroom can free up time for teachers to collect and analyze data to guide future assignments or to target student needs.  Different levels of data exist within the LMS, and each type serves a separate purpose.

Student Level
Depending on the amount of student data provided by the LMS, a teacher will be able to view a student's past grades in courses, scores on standardized tests and individual domains within those tests, the number of times a student has logged in to a course, and the number of times a student has attempted an assignment or used a particular tool.  The data will help the instructor to gauge a student's preparedness and motivation, and may assist the instructor in determining in which areas the student may require extra help.

Teacher Level
This data may be used by administrators as a tool for evaluating teacher effectiveness or by teachers as a tool for self-assessment and reflection.  Teacher data includes student achievement within specific courses.  By analyzing this data, teachers can target areas within the instruction that need improvement.

Course Level
This data is most useful when teachers and administrators are evaluating the effectiveness of the material of a a specific course.

Program Level
Program level data is used to analyze the effectiveness of a program as a whole.
